Previous: What is the CEC
This ``new-user'' information which is circulated only contains general
information. If you require more specific information, there are several
options available to you.
- The Center for Experimental Computation (CEC) is located in Fisher
201. The staff of the CEC is available to answer questions from faculty,
staff, and students during normal working hours (8am - 5pm). The phone
number for the CEC is 487-2111. You may also send request assistance
through e-mail. This mail should be directed to: cechelp@cec.mtu.edu.
- The CEC maintains a news service (cecnews) to provide information
to its users. This information includes availability of new software
packages, notices of meetings and seminars, scheduled downtime
information, and hints about how to more effectively use the systems.
To read cecnews, simply type ``cecnews". A manual page, containing more
information is installed (type ``man cecnews").
- The CEC has a web page at http://www.cec.mtu.edu/.
- If your problems and/or questions do not relate to CEC-maintained
facilities contact the Information Technology (IT) Help Desk at
487-2000. IT maintains a news service (mtunews), which works the same
way as cecnews.
