Getting Started: To start FrameMaker type frame. Eventually a FrameMaker window will pop up with five buttons. To create a new FrameMaker document click new. To edit an existing document click open. General help is available and info will list basic information about FrameMaker (e.g. the version you are using). Finally, click exit when you are finished.
New: When you create a new document you will need to setup a few things. You should select the page layout. Choose portrait for vertical page with one inch margins, landscape for a horizontal page with one inch margins, or use custom to specify something different. You may also select a template for the type of document you want to create. See help for details.
Files: Under the File menu, select Save to save the document you are editing as the name listed on the title bar. To save under a new name (or when saving for the first time) choose Save As and a window will prompt you for a filename. To edit a previously saved document choose Open and again you will be prompted for a filename. Similarly, select Close when you are through editing a file.
Editing: Cut, copy, and paste can be found under the Edit menu. A spell checker and thesaurus can also be found here. You can use the mouse to jump around in the text and use the delete and backspace keys to correct errors. Fonts, footnotes, page breaks, etc. are under the Format menu.
View: The View menu lets you select which editing aids, such as rulers and borders, to display.
Graphics: Tables, pictures, lines, borders, and other graphical displays can be included in your document through features located under the Graphics and Table menus.
