How do I get back a file I deleted?

Backups are run nightly on home directories and most research directories. Scratch partitions are not backed up. If the file was not on the system overnight, it's gone and you have to start over from scratch. Otherwise, check out the Recovery Request page.

How do I access my account remotely?

If you just need email, check out HuskyMail, MTU's web based email service. If you need command line access to a UNIX system, check out the CEC's Remote Access page.

How do I do X with email?

Check out email.mtu.edu, it has links for many things you can do with your email. Email client configurations, recover accidentally deleted email, set up a vacation message, and much more. If your question isn't answered there, you can send email to email@mtu.edu.

What dial-up options do I have?

MTU faculty, staff, and grad students have access to Merit's MichNet dial-up service. Faculty, staff, and grad students in the CS, Math, and Physics Departments can access the CEC Annex. Although the above dial-in access is free, the MichNet has only 16 lines and connections are limited to 1 hour. The CEC Annex has only 6 lines and is older 14.4k modems. MTU has an agreement with UP.net for low cost internet access available to all MTU faculty, staff, and students.
