About the World Community Grid Project
Michigan Tech has joined a partnership with IBM to contribute unused computing resources to worldwide societal projects. The grid is a network of computers consisting of over 17,000 "teams" and over 150,000 individual members that have contributed a total of over 100,000 years of equivalent run time to selected problems. Individuals who wish to participate on university-owned machines may need to contact their system administrator to set up the application. For home machines or machines on which the individual has administrative privileges, setting up the application is very simple. Download the application from the WCG home page, join the "Michigan Tech" team, and set up the application for your preferences. The process is fairly straightforward. Further information is available on the WCG Home Page and in the Michigan Tech press release linked above.
